Ceuta, although attached to Morroco geographically, is in fact Spanish territory. The architecture is very colonial in nature and the town is a very busy duty free shopping centre for visitors that arrive on the frequent ferries from the Spanish mainland. While walking around the peninsular you cannot fail to be impressed by the old fortifications, indicative of considerable military history. The local museum is also well worth a visit.
Ceuta has seen considerable investment in recent years, much of it in the marina and waterfront area. The new yacht marina is situated next to an impressive leisure complex with large swimming pools, gardens, bars and restaurants. Although MacDonalds has put in an appearance the are also lots of good restaurants to choose from.
