Huelva is a very busy town. Unfortunately, from a tourist point of view it is busy with Industry as can be seen by the number of oil refineries and the level of airborne pollution. Its only historical claim to fame derives from the fact That Christopher Columbus prepared his ships here prior to his voyages of discovery. Moorings in the river are private and you must anchor or enter the Puerto Deportivo Mazagon a purpose built yacht marina just inside the breakwater but this is a long way out of town.
