San Lucar de Barrameda is a good place to spend the day. The town is situated at the mouth of the river Guadalquivir opposite the Donana national park. There is no marina and you must use your own ground tackle to anchor off the beach . The flow of the river is very strong making the run ashore in the dinghy an event in itself but the restaurants at the waters edge make it worth the effort. This area is well known for the quality of its fish and “mariscos” which can be sampled whilst sitting in the shade within sight of the yacht. There is no better place to wait for a favourable tide before heading upriver to Seville.
