The port of Chipiona is well situated at the mouth of the river Guadquivir. The marina is quite small and shares the harbour with the local fishing fleet. The town of Chipiona , a short walk from the marina, is a typical Spanish seaside town unspoilt by over commercialisation, a total contrast to the mediterranean coast. The local children can be seen ferreting amongst the fish traps that have been constructed along the foreshore which use the tide to trap the fish within their walls. The lighthouse at Chipiona can be seen for many miles and is one of the highest in Spain. The reef just offshore and the visible wreck of a freighter are testament to its necessity.
