Puerto Santa Maria is a popular destination for the cognoscenti for fish and sherry, provided by the local fishing fleet and the many nearby bodegas respectively. There are pontoon berths available for visitors but they can be uncomfortable as the are situated alongside the access to the fishing quays. Fishing boats tend to go out at all times of day or night and do not worry about how much wake they create. It is usually better to moor in Puerto Sherry which is not far away and walk back in to Puerto Santa Maria
