Barbate is situated just east of Cape Trafalgar and although the town holds little of interest the harbour can provide refuge if the weather prevents navigation around the Cape or through the Straits of Gibraltar. The marina is spacious and provides pontoon berths in a sheltered corner of the harbour. There is a bar come restaurant on the quayside and more hostelries can be found on the sea front in town but be prepared for a long walk. There is a good sandy beach adjacent to the town for those who want to swim or sunbathe and beachbars provide the necessary refreshments.
